• France: No go-zones for women
“Swedish women feel unsafe. An entire 41% of women in Skåne County (which include Malmö) say that they do not dare to go out alone anymore. They are afraid of being raped. New figures from the Public Health Agency for the years 2013-2016 show that hundreds of thousands of Swedes are terrified throughout Sweden. Nationally a staggering 35% of the women in Sweden are afraid to go out alone.
A total of 26 percent of people in Skåne say they do not dare to go out alone. Among women it is 41 percent and among men 11 percent.
– What we tend to highlight is the fear of becoming a victim of a sexual abuse. It is larger in women than in men, says Anita Heber, a researcher of criminology at Stockholm University, to SVT.
For men it is the likelihood of ending up in an unfair fight that scares the most.”
